Class Experience

Digital Short Film Production (Intro to Advanced) 


Make new friends while producing, filming, and editing your digital short! Students work on group projects to share with their communities. Perfect for those aspiring Content Creators and Filmmakers seeking an exciting and challenging week filled with collaboration and camaraderie. Get ready for a week that's as fun as it is creative! 🎥✨


Over the past 8 years, Digital Shorts has become our most popular camp! Aspiring filmmakers and content creators spend the week producing short films, mockumentaries, music videos, and other "Digital Shorts." This open-ended program allows young filmmakers to "think outside the box" and create content designed to be shared on social media, YouTube, and TikTok. Perfect for beginners and students interested in Producing, Production Design, Editing, and Cinematography.


Staff Ratio: 10:1

Hardware + Software: Canon DSLR cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro

Ages: Students 12-17

Hours: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM (Pick up by 3pm)

Program: Teen Day Camp (One-Week)


Lunch Not Provided: Students will need to bring their own lunch.

Students learn to use Adobe Creative Suite to edit audio and video using  Audition & Premiere Pro, building hard skills in video production. All camera, audio and editing equipment provided.

Our week-long day camps are designed to spark creativity and collaboration in aspiring filmmakers.

Filmmaking Camps for ages 12-17 offers a deeper exploration of the craft, guiding participants through the entire filmmaking process from script development to final editing. Students create a Digital Short Film they will be proud to share with their communities! At NW Film Camp, we prioritize a fun and inclusive environment, fostering teamwork and encouraging the unique visions of each young filmmaker.

Class Requirements

  • No experience required (Intro to Advanced).

What you'll learn

  • Scriptwriting: Develop the art of storytelling through creating compelling and engaging scripts for your films.
  • Storyboarding: Master the skill of visually mapping out scenes and sequences to enhance storytelling and planning.
  • Camera Operation: Learn the technical aspects of operating a camera, including framing, angles, and capturing dynamic shots.
  • Editing: Acquire proficiency in editing software to bring your footage to life, adding effects, transitions, and polishing the final product.
  • Sound Design: Understand the importance of sound in filmmaking, from capturing quality audio on set to enhancing it during post-production.
  • Acting and Directing: Explore the basics of acting and directing, understanding how to guide performances and bring characters to life on screen.
  • Lighting Techniques: Master the art of using light to set the mood and atmosphere of your scenes, enhancing the visual impact of your films.
  • Production Design: Gain insights into creating visually appealing sets and locations that complement the narrative and enhance the overall production.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Learn how to work effectively in a creative team, understanding the importance of each role in the filmmaking process.
  • Pitching and Presentation: Develop the skill of pitching your ideas effectively, learning how to communicate your vision and garner support for your projects.

  • SAMPLE SCHEDULE
  • 8:30 - Drop off / Check in
  • 9:00 - Instruction / Pre-production
  • 10:30 - Onset Film Production
  • 12:00 - Lunch Break - Bring a lunch!
  • 12:30 - Team Building Outside
  • 12:45 - Continue Filming
  • 1:30 - Post-production work
  • 2:30 - Pick up - No later than 3:00pm

Cancellation Policy

Tuition and Fees Refund Policy -  If you are forced to cancel for any reason you will receive your full purchase price as a transferable credit, good for any NW Film Camp session through 2027. Tuition is non-refundable but transferable.
