In this hands-on workshop, young artists will create a one-of-a-kind mosaic by piecing together an array of materials onto a wooden base.
Participants will explore different approaches to arranging their mosaic elements, whether intuitively or with a more structured design, while considering the relationships between colors, shapes, textures, and patterns.
With access to a diverse selection of natural, manmade, and repurposed materials, children will make creative decisions about composition and design, developing their artistic eye and problem-solving skills. As they place and secure their pieces, they will practice fine motor coordination and spatial awareness while experimenting with visual balance and contrast.
Throughout the workshop, artists will be encouraged to think like designers, making intentional choices about how their materials interact. They will gain an appreciation for the expressive potential of mosaics and leave with a finished, durable artwork mounted on wood—ready to display and enjoy.
This workshop is perfect for children who enjoy working with their hands, exploring new materials, and expressing their creativity through both structured and freeform design.
