Class Experience

Discover, create, and experiment! In this hands-on class, young artists will explore a new material each week, including charcoal, graphite, acrylics, watercolors, oils, pastels, ink, block printing, collage, and even 3D materials. Perfect for budding creatives, this course encourages experimentation, skill-building, and self-expression through mixed media art.

What To Bring

  • All art supplies are included in the course, but we strongly encourage you to bring in your own items from home: this could be old photos or items you have a personal connection to, adding them to your pieces makes for a more personal touch.
  • Specialty supplies like gloss/ glazes, or pouring mediums and glazes are NOT supplied; if you require these materials please bring them with you to class.

Meet your Instructor

Reed O.

Reed Oka MacLaren is a visual artist originally from Salem, Massachusetts with a BFA in Scenic Design for Theater from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers. He is a painter, sculptor, illustrator, and storyteller, most notably working on original self-published comic books, such as “If the Big Red Shoe Fits” and “The Outrageous Adventures of Fishlegs” trilogy. A former camp counselor, Reed is passionate about teaching and eager to inspire young artists to pursue and develop their craft.
