Class Experience
For Teens 9-12 yrs
Unlock the power of drawing, the foundation of visual arts! Ideal for teens serious about their art education or considering a career in visual arts. Join our class to practice classical drawing exercises weekly, building confidence in sketching and creating exciting compositions. Students learn proportions, perspective, anatomy and so much more. Drawing is a skill that improves with consistent practice, and a full course is highly recommended. Returning students are welcome and will receive support to further enhance their skills.
Sample Class Format
- Learn how to achieve accurate proportion & linear perspective, shading and values.
- Develop an eye for line- form & tone using a combination of pencil, charcoal, or inks.
- Discover how to draw using the right side of the brain
- How to draw curves, use the contour technique & straight line approximation technique, the essentials of drawing ellipses, drawing a cylinder, hemispheres & how to employ horizontal lines & vanishing points to give your drawings a sense of volume and accuracy.
- How to use the midpoint establishment to ensure the two major halves or your drawings are accurate- these exercises help you learn how to see shape and form and develop confidence.
- In the last few weeks we will take what we have learned and incorporate them into more full realized detailed illustrations.

Cancellation Policy
To reschedule a single class, purchase a Rescheduling Ticket 24 hours before class.
To reschedule a full semester, email us for a credit (less a $75 admin fee). No refunds will be provided.
What To Bring
- All drawing supplies are provided: the use of pencils, charcoal and inks, and paper.
- We do recommend having your own personal sketchbook so you can practice at home and track your progress.

Ty P.
Originally from Illinois, Ty studied at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art graduating with degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. Ty moved to Brooklyn after school and has been sharing his love of art ever since by practicing and teaching the craft of sequential illustration to students since 2019. He is a recently established comic book artist with published works by Newsarama, Source Point Press and more currently on deck.
