Class Experience

Drawing is the most valuable visual arts skill and is needed for all artistic disciplines. This course is perfect for beginner adult students looking for a strong foundation, it’s a great skill for anyone working in film, graphic design, the fashion industry, or those who work digitally. Learn to use perspective, understand shape language, create proper proportions, shade on an accurate value scale, and draw from observation. Each class builds confidence in students' technical skills and hand-eye coordination.

What To Bring

  • All Drawing supplies are included in your course fee: Paper, Pencils, Charcoal, Pastels, inks. We recommend bringing a sketchbook of your own so you can track progress and write notes and practice exercises at home.  
  • Canvas is NOT required or supplied, however, if you prefer to draw on a canvas (optional) please bring it with you to class.

Meet your Instructor

Reed O.

Reed Oka MacLaren is a visual artist originally from Salem, Massachusetts with a BFA in Scenic Design for Theater from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers. He is a painter, sculptor, illustrator, and storyteller, most notably working on original self-published comic books, such as “If the Big Red Shoe Fits” and “The Outrageous Adventures of Fishlegs” trilogy. A former camp counselor, Reed is passionate about teaching and eager to inspire young artists to pursue and develop their craft.
