Tomoo Hamada is a contemporary Japanese ceramic artist, a third generation potter and internationally recognized ceramicist. Tomoo’s body of work features forms typical of Japanese pottery- the chawan, vase, yunomi- but he has introduced a variety of his own unique, sculptural modern forms, all decorated with the classic bold, gestural surfaces of the Hamada family tradition.
This workshop is an opportunity to learn about Tomoo’s method of making. Participants can anticipate demonstrations of throwing, handbuilding, and surface decoration.
Please note that this workshop is demonstration only.
