Join us for an introductory workshop will give you a taste of metalsmithing jewelry as well as the skills to make a lot more!
In this class, students will learn to make at least one, but most likely between 2-3 sterling silver or brass (or both) stacking rings to wear home. We will cover the full scope of metal smithing, including the tools and equipment you'll need, how to size, saw, solder, shape, hammer and polish the metals using tools such as a caliper, jewelers saw, files, hammers, and a butane torch.
We will measure your finger, choose the type of wire you’d like to work with, and measure out the length of wire required for your reing design. You'll then saw the wire, form and prepare it for soldering, seal the joint with a torch, shape it into a perfect-fitting ring with a hammer and
mandrel, and file and polish until it's ready to wear. We will do this as many times as possible,
time permitting. You’ll have the choice between different sizes and shapes of wire as well as
the opportunity to add your own texture or use pre-patterned wires I’ll also have available.
And when you fall in love with your new skill set, I'll share all the resources you need for setting up your at-home jewerly making studio.
All materials included.
You may cancel for a refund up to 21 days before the workshop. After that workshop fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to reschedule a workshop with fewer than 4 sign ups.
