Class Experience

We have several "invitation to create" tables and collaborative projects available for you and your child to explore.

An open studio experience at Create is a time for children to come in and create and explore at their own pace. We have a variety of art materials and activities available, and children are free to choose what they want to work on.

Here are some of the things that you could do during a two hour Open Play session:

  • Paint or draw on a variety of surfaces, such as paper, canvas, wood, and fabric.
  • Sculpt with clay or play dough.
  • Make collages.
  • Design and build their own creations out of recycled materials.
  • Explore different art techniques, such as watercolor, acrylic painting, and printmaking.
  • Create their own masterpiece inspired by a famous artist or artwork.
  • Work with a variety of tools, such as brushes, sponges, stamps, and rollers.
  • Our studio focuses on the process of creating art, rather than the end product. This means that children are encouraged to experiment and have fun, without worrying about making their art look perfect.

Here are some of the benefits of open studio experiences for children:

  • Creativity: Open Play experiences allow children to explore their creativity and express themselves through art.
  • Fine motor skills: Open Play experiences can help children develop their fine motor skills through activities such as painting, drawing, and sculpting.
  • Problem-solving skills: Open Play experiences can help children develop their problem-solving skills as they figure out how to use different art materials and techniques.
  • Social skills: Open Play experiences can be a fun and social activity for children and their families. Children can learn to interact with other children and adults, and they can share their ideas and creations with others.

If you are looking for a fun and enriching activity for your child, we encourage you to check out our Open Play experience at Create!

Class Requirements

  • To enhance the overall studio experience for our young creators, we have established the following policy for drop-offs of children aged 6 and older:  No Consecutive Drop-Offs.

  • Parent/Guardian Responsibility of Drop-Offs: Parents or guardians must pick up their child when the session ends or stay and join them for the next session.

  • Children 3 and under must have a parent accompany them at each table/station.

  • Create Team members are not considered chaperones, as their primary role is to facilitate the art activities and provide guidance, rather than direct supervision.

  • Please note that all children, regardless of age, are expected to follow our studio policies.

  • If your 5-year-old has previously attended our camps or classes and has demonstrated independence in creating art (with a little initial guidance), we may be able to accommodate them for drop-off. Please contact us directly to discuss this option.

  • No Drop-off Open Play on mornings when we have School Camps

  • Babies not yet walking are free with paying sibling.

Loved:

We LOVE bringing our girls to an open play session on weekends when my husband and I need to catch up on work or the weather is just not cooperating. Rather than leaving them with a babysitter or parking in front of the TV, they have a blast and are so proud of their creations and we get 2 hours to catch up on email or reading in the most clean, calm environment. It is truly a win win!

Loved:

Freedom to choose a lot of different activities and materials - we love doing open play!

Improvements:

Clarity on what grown ups supervising open play kids are allowed to do (ie hot glue? Pick materials?)

Loved:

Ania was great and patient w our 5 and 3 year old. Gianna the other associate couldn’t be bothered- she was too busy cleaning up to close up instead of being a helpful facilitator.

Improvements:

Def providing kids and parents with some ideas on crafts and activities to do. Both associates had to be asked multiple times on crafts, where certain things where. Ania was great help though.

Loved:

There was a variety of activities for my daughter to do and great materials to use. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Improvements:

Some of the patrons stared at us like we were aliens. Not much diversity inside, but not the business' fault.
