SKILLBUILDER 1 COURSE: Bee Tutored’s Skillbuilder I course is part of our Skillbuilder course series aimed at the 7th grader with some previous SHSAT preparation. The series is designed to dive deeper into aspects of the SHSAT and uncover as well as solve common misconceptions and frustrations associated with the SHSAT.
This winter’s Skillbuilder I course demystifies common, confusing lines of questioning presented on the SHSAT. SkillBuilder I teaches students techniques in order to deconstruct questions into easier, more manageable parts. In our Skillbuilder I class, students will work directly off past DOE exam questions for maximum exposure to the exam.
The course includes: 6, 1.5 hour classes, Comprehensive lessons + guided practices based on past, DOE SHSAT handbook exams.
Materials needed: DOE SHSAT exams from 2009-present.
Day/Times: Thursdays, 5:00pm - 6:30pm

The opportunity to practice this exam
Improvements:
Proctor should arrive at least 15 minutes early. Since the proctor arrived after most of the test takers, the beginning of the exam was disorganized and increased anxiety. Also during the exam, there was music playing in a nearby apartment that was distracting.
