Class Experience

Class Description:
This is where bright minds shine! At Bright Idea Spring Break Camp, campers ages 5-11 will explore the magic of STEAM through the lens of engineering, design, and problem-solving. From the power of the wheel to the hidden strength of triangles, the creativity of blocks, and the mechanics of gears and pulleys, every day is packed with hands-on activities that make learning an adventure. Plus, each camper will have the chance to build and take home their creations, thanks to our unique Discovery Box feature!

Class Experience:
Imagine a world where play meets innovation and every idea sparks a new discovery! Campers will engage in collaborative challenges, build-and-test experiments, and creative design projects. They'll tinker with tools, construct structures, and master mechanics—all while working in a lively, engaging environment that encourages curiosity and teamwork. Every day ends with a sense of pride as campers bring home their personalized, make-and-take projects to showcase their bright ideas.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! If tickets are available, campers will also enjoy a field trip to Cinebistro for the Minecraft movie premiere, where they'll see how the engineering principles they’ve learned come to life in one of their favorite games.

Subject Matter:
This camp is all about engineering and design made approachable and fun! Topics include the role of wheels in transportation, the structural integrity of triangles, the endless possibilities of blocks, and the fascinating mechanics of gears and pulleys. By exploring these concepts through hands-on activities and interactive projects, campers gain real-world skills and an appreciation for how STEAM shapes the world around them.

Key Takeaway:
Bright Idea Spring Break Camp isn’t just a camp—it’s an experience where discovery takes center stage, creativity is celebrated, and every camper leaves inspired to build, explore, and innovate!

Sample Class Format

  • At Bright Idea Spring Break Camp, each day is packed with hands-on fun and creative exploration to spark campers’ curiosity and imagination. Here's how a day at camp will look:

  • Morning Session: Core STEAM Adventures (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Campers will kick off the morning with a fun challenge to get their minds buzzing, like building a wheel-powered car or designing the tallest, strongest block tower.

Dive into exciting activities to explore concepts like how gears work, why triangles are so strong in construction, or how pulleys make lifting things easier.

Campers will open their Discovery Box to create something amazing to take home—like a mini pulley system, a gadget powered by gears, or a block masterpiece.

  • Lunch Break & Active Play (12:00 PM - 12:45 PM)

Enjoy a break to eat, relax, and connect with fellow campers.

After lunch, stretch out with outdoor fun or games that tie into the day’s learning.

  • Afternoon Session: Build, Test, and Explore (12:45 PM - 2:45 PM)

Campers will team up for bigger challenges, such as building a block tower that holds weight or testing machines powered by gears.

Experiment with creations, solve problems, and refine designs to make them even better.

The day wraps up with a group showcase where campers present their work and share their discoveries.

  • Extended Play & Thematic Fun (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM)

Finish the day in the Discovery Zones, where campers can play, explore, and enjoy more STEAM-inspired activities.

  • Special Bonus: If tickets are available, Friday, April 4, 2025 will include a trip to Cinebistro for the Minecraft movie premiere! Campers will see how the concepts they’ve been exploring—like gears, blocks, and problem-solving—are connected to their favorite game.

What Campers Will Be Doing:

  • Discover: Learn the science and engineering behind wheels, triangles, blocks, gears, and pulleys.
  • Create: Use the Discovery Box to build awesome projects to take home each day.
  • Experiment: Test ideas, solve challenges, and refine designs for even cooler creations.
  • Play: Engage in hands-on activities and games that make learning fun and exciting.
