Class Experience
What do you get when you harness the funny in your kids to create an SNL-style performance?-- you get Seriously Funny Sketch Comedy!
Through the use of various improvisational games and exercises students and instructors work together to develop characters and create comic sketches. Next, an original script is created based on the characters and ideas the students devsie through improvisation. Musical numbers are added by setting new, comic lyrics to famous tunes from composers ranging from J.S Bach to Beyonce' (and just about everything in-between).
On the final day of class the group performs their original musical sketch comedy revue for friends and family!
Previously named, "Musical Theater Builders", this is one of Creative Stage's most popular classes. We recommend you sign up early to ensure your spot.
- 3:00PM-5:00PM (free after school pick up at 2:40 for PS333 students)
- Classes held in the Manhattan School for Children Building at 154 W 93rd St.
- Kids do NOT need to be confident singers to feel comfortable participating in this class.
- Previous performing experience is helpful but not necessary

Sample Class Format
- Each class will be progressive as we work to devise our show utilizing a variety of improvisational games and activities. Towards the end of the term, focus shifts to rehearsing the show for the final performance. Please mark you calendar for the final performance -- which takes place at the end of the final class day.
Other Things To Know
Camp is non-refundable. However, if there is a student on the waitinglist willing and able take your assigned place, in that case, we are happy to offer refunds up to 2 days before the start of camp.

Gerry was amazing and even stayed late to accommodate our work schedule! Love him- he’s great with kids- they even made up their own song with lyrics and a play- the kids loved it!!!

Marisa is an amazing instructor. She teaches real improv techniques and theater basics. She takes the kids seriously and really connects with them. My child loves this class. He’s learning a lot and having a blast.
