Class Experience
In this course, students will be taught how to make clear, concise, and rhetorically sound persuasive argument in writing. The class will cover the components of various types of persuasive essay and students will write at least persuasive essay during the course. Short readings from newspaper op-ed sections and sample argumentative essays will be used as inspiration and models for student writing. These readings will be provided in the form of digital PDFs by the teacher. Workshops will be used to help students practice analyzing and critiquing others’ writing while also hearing constructive feedback on their own.
Sample Class Format
Class 1 Introduction: Objective Voice in Writing
-Topics: Vocabulary for Persuasive Writing, Voice, Objectivity, Author in Background, Pronouns, 1st op-ed
-Writing: Objective Argumentative Response to Prompt
Class 2 Intro to Modern American Five-Part Essay
-Topics: Essay Structure, Hook, Thesis, Topic Sentences, 1st Paragraph, sample essay(s)
-Writing: 1st Persuasive Paragraph
Class 3 Introductory Paragraphs
-Topics: Hook, Context, Background, 3 Main Points, Thesis,
-Writing: Introductory Paragraph
Class 4 Body Paragraphs I
-Topics: Sandwich Method, Topic Sentences, Using Paraphrase, Analysis, Objectivity
-Writing: 3 Body Paragraphs

Improvements:
About the homework, since my child didn’t receive homework, we sent email to teacher, we sent texts by wechet to the instructor, never got response… we kind of feel lost
