Class Experience
Bring your favorite story books to life in this fun one hour art class! Each week will focus on a new children's picture book that will be read at the beginning of class! Afterwards, students will create their own masterpiece based on the subject, theme, or art style of that weeks book! With classics such as "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to new favorites like "Oops!", this is a fun curriculum exploring where we can find inspiration as artists!
Children will explore a wide range or materials while rotate through many different art making mediums. Children will begin to develop fine and gross motor skills while also exploring and expressing their own creativity!
Optional Free Play add-on- Looking to keep the fun going, add-on Free Ply afterwards. While students are washing hands after the project we will transform the space to allow kids to play together with a variety of toys!
Sample Class Format
- 10-10:15am- Read Story book and discuss themes and art.
- 10:15-11:00am- Create mixed media artwork inspired by the story.
- Optional: 11:00-11:30am- Free Play
Other Things To Know
All Adults asked to stay in the building with their child. Adults with children under 3 may find it beneficial to assist in the art making process.
Please notify Unicoi by email or phone/voicemail at least 12 hours ahead of class you need to cancel. No refunds will be given but credit can be used for a future class or camp.
No credits if notification not recieve 12hr ahead of class.

About Unicoi Art Studio
We specialize in drawing out the imagination! Unicoi Art Studio has been providing exceptional art activities for kids in Chicago since 1999. We were voted the best art classes in the city for 2008 and 2009, by the parents of Chicago (Nickelodeon’s Parents Picks Award). Unicoi’s mission is to “draw” out the imagination in every child, with projects designed to be informative, engaging and fun for children ages 3-15. We use premium quality artist materials, so at a young age the students experience rich colors, unusual textures and a variety of unique materials. Our teaching philosophy is for children to be able to use their creativity to explore the subjects that interest them and for our teachers to provide the safe and structured environment to support their exploration.
