Class Experience
Shakespeare?!? For kids?!? You bet! William Shakespeare is one of the greatest storytellers to ever write for the stage and this camp will introduce children to the beautiful language of Midsummer Night's Dream. Using the actual text, music, artwork, and our imaginations, children will explore the language and world of the play making the text come to life. The week will culminate in a final performance for family and friends.
No reading skills required!
About our Creativity Co-Lab Camp Series:
Step into Treasure Trunk’s laboratory of imagination, collaboration, magic and more! Tailored to our older campers, these theatrical camps will focus on cultivating teamwork, fostering confidence and celebrating each child’s unique voice.
This “next level” camp series includes a variety of themes, focused on different aspects of the theatre world. From Shakespeare to musical theatre and more - we encourage our community of growing Treasure Trunkers to experience it all to find their individual passion. Whether your kiddo loves the spotlight, has a knack for crafting incredible costumes, or is destined to direct...there is something for everyone at Treasure Trunk!
Sample Daily Timeline:
9:00am-9:15am – Drop-off & Welcome Activity
9:15am-9:45am – Warm-ups
9:45am-10:15am – Ensemble-Building Activities
10:15am-10:30am – Snack Time
10:30am-11:00am – Movement & Dance
11:00am-12:00pm– First Treasure Trunk Opening - a combination of script-work, devising, and story drama, combined with artwork
12:00pm-12:30pm – Lunch
12:30pm-1:15pm – Outdoor Play
1:15pm-2:00pm – Second Treasure Trunk Opening - diving deeper into our stories for the week
2:00pm-2:30pm – Rehearsal Time
2:30pm-3:00pm – End of the Day – Reflections and Celebration!
3:00-5:30pm - Late Extended Day: To add LATE EXTENDED DAY, return to the main camp registration and select the separate listing for the Late Extended Day for the week you wish to add, then add it to your cart. *Available for Christ Church location only. For camp at Christ Church, students will be walked by our teaching artists to Treasure Trunk Atlantic (141 Atlantic Ave) to combine with our Late Extended Day for 3-6 year olds.

My acting loving kiddo had an amazing time! The teachers were warm, enthusiastic and encouraging and had a TON of energy. They did a great job welcoming my daughter as she was feeling shy on her first day. At the end of the day, she told me that this was the BEST camp she attended when school was out and wanted to sign up for the next one. Thank you!!
Improvements:
This was our first time and while I knew that there was a performance at the end of the week, I didn't realize that parents would be invited until I got the email confirmation before camp started. I loved getting to see her in action but wish I had realized/known a little sooner to account for the time in my work day. It was great to see it though - now I just know to block off time the next time around!

Juniper has had a tough time with drop offs for school and weekend classes. She cries and clings onto us every time. However, the counselors at Treasure Trunk have been absolutely amazing - especially Mr. Kyle. Juniper runs in without even saying bye to us and is disappointed to leave when we pick her up. She loves it!
Improvements:
Nothing! I do wish the after school care was a bit more affordable because I would definitely sign her up for that.

So far we’ve done one-day superhero camp and one-week Brave Mermaids camp. My 3.5 year old loves the crafts, stories and getting to act things out! Teachers seem engaged and classes well organized and structured. We appreciate having a theater and imagination oriented class for this age group!
Improvements:
Feedback from my kid is that the 390 Social location is a bit dark and not as cheery as other places. That said, we’ll probably still book there as it is convenient for us.

Thank you so much for sharing, love hearing about their great time with us! Finding spaces to hold our programs outside of our studios is an ongoing challenge. Thankfully 390 is a clean and safe space in a great location, so we continue to run camps there while we look for a permanent home in central park slope. :)

About Treasure Trunk Theatre
Treasure Trunk Theatre is a nurturing place for children to develop and expand their creative energies while learning valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and confidence. Through the theatrical arts, children will learn to use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to express themselves and be connected with the world around them. With classes in Brooklyn and Manhattan, Treasure Trunk has music and theatre classes and camps for children ages 0-8 years.
