Class Experience
Introductory classes can be boring with campers spending lots of time writing short pieces of code that produce statements such “Hello World.” At Boolean Girl Camps, the campers dive right in and on the very first day use Python to create art.
Python is one of the most widely used programming languages in the world - it is used by many well-known tech companies including Wikipedia, ...Google, Yahoo!, NASA, Facebook, Amazon, and Spotify.
In this course, Campers will learn coding and computational thinking using Python syntax. Campers will encounter important coding concepts like loops, variables, and lists while they use Python to build a drawing application that creates a work of art. In addition to coding, interested campers will have a chance to express their creativity through visual design. If your learner is ready for Python, this class will give them foundational knowledge and skills while having fun.

Loved:
My daughter has attended Boolean Girl camps, and the occasional clubhouse, since 2019. This Python 1 session is the first time that she has not been enthusiastic about the program. From what she has described, it seems like there is less engagement by the counselors in this session than she was used to. In the past, she would often tell of conversations she had with the instructors who would make the rounds to see what kids were working on, and make suggestions that would lead them further.
Improvements:
- cont'd - That doesn't seem to be happening in this session. Consequently, she reported spending very litle time on her programming project over the last two days. It's a shame because one of the beautiful things about coding is that there is almost always more than one way to do things, and with more feedback from knowlegable counselors, the learning could be more continuous.

Response from Boolean Girl
Hi Todd, Thank you for your honest review. We are really sorry the camp did not live up to our usual standards. We know the role our college and high school aged instructors goes beyond just teaching the materials. We hope to see you again in another class.
