Class Experience
In Child's Play NY production classes, improvisation and theater games help stoke creativity, create an ensemble and develop the spirit of play as students rehearse a complete piece of theater in the semester. A great session for kids to increase confidence, craft, and their ability to work as part of an ensemble.
Kids learn how to create a character from a place of instinct and play. They also amass skills in singing, dance, speech, and improvisation taught by master teachers and performers at the top of their field.
Welcome to Alliance Academy, where we train the superheroes of tomorrow... and the others who work beside them. After all, not everyone can have the kinds of flashy powers that prevent disasters and make headlines. While some abilities are better suited for the Sidekick Track, not having super strength, super speed, or super...anything doesn't mean that you can't be super, too! When every superhero in the world is kidnapped by the evil Dr. Downfall, it's up to the sidekicks in training and their unlikely mentors to save the day. Class culminates in a final performance.

Sample Class Format
- The first day of class will consist of ensemble-building games, learning the plot of the show, and hearing some of the music.
- On the second day, students receive scripts and roles and we begin learning choreography and rehearsing!
- For the remainder of the semester, each day will comprise of a welcome circle, physical and vocal warm ups, rehersal, and a theater game to get us further into character.
- Class culminates in a performance open to the public.
Other Things To Know
Students will be tasked with memorizing lines and reviewing dances over the course of the semester.

What To Bring
- Students will be given a script on the second day of class, which they should bring back to rehearsal every week. One script is provided, if that script is lost there is a fee to replace or families will print an electronic copy on their own.
- Base costumes for show day will come from children's own closets, additional props and costumes provided by Child's Play NY.

This was our first time signing up for a school break camp. Upon entering, the staff was very welcoming and had clearly read everything we shared about our son (requested information) prior to him coming in. At pick up I asked my son how his day was and he said he had a lot of fun and the teachers were very nice. He told me about playing and his adventure. He was happy to attend the next day and seemed very comfortable. Overall we had a very positive experience.

My child was always super happy at the end of the day. The classes had fun activities, while still challenging them to put on a play in a 5-day long camp. Pretty impressive!
Improvements:
We didn't need aftercare that week, but there are some weeks that I would have signed up for Child's Play if they had the option of aftercare.

My 4yo loved this camp so much. The instructors were so wonderful at making my son feel welcome and comfortable when he was nervous to go in on his first day. The rest of the week he was running into the building and barely saying goodbye. He came home talking about the adventures they went on in class and the stories they read or acted out. It's a really great camp, especially for younger kids when there aren't that many options in day camps.
