Adult Spanish Class Level III (Intermediate)

Bilingüitos may mean “Little Bilinguals” but since we believe in bilingualism for A L L, we have carved out some space for adult learners as well. Adults are different than children. Their brains have already determined what their native language is, and now see any new language through the lens of their first. This change of learning style starts around mid-childhood and solidifies around puberty. Because of this, language learning looks different than it does with our younger students. We take this into account when instructing our adult students, using English as our language of instruction to create a bridge into the new language, Spanish. Then, we make sure our students get rich, authentic Spanish input and put their new language skills to practice.

This class is for intermediate level students of Spanish; those who have gone through either of our beginner classes (Level I or II) OR who have had formal Spanish experience in the past (i.e. high school/college; living abroad; etc.) and have retained a lot of what they learned. Students should be familiar with the present and preterite tenses, and should have a decent amount of vocabulary memorized. We will continue exploring the past tenses of Spanish, including reinforcing preterite and introducing imperfect. We will also talk a lot about the object pronouns like ‘te,’ ‘lo,’ ‘le,’ etc. Our classes focus on real-world language and encourage our students to practice conversationally with one another.
