Class Experience
In this program, the studio will be set up as a station based classroom. The stations will change weekly or daily, depending on the class participation and the direction of the students. The children will be allowed to roam freely in the stations as to their preference, following appropriate distancing guidelines. Ideas will be suggested as to the use of materials as well as samples provided from previous programs. We want to create an environment that is free of strict art project based programs. As always, the student is also allowed to paint with oils at the easels. There will be two to three teachers every day, depending on enrollment. These teachers will float freely from station to station, providing instruction and encouraging the students to expand their creative thinking. Each student is expected to bring a box lunch and snack. Occasionally the children will be taken to Fort Beach or Crocker Park for lunch to explore for found objects for art projects (weather permitting). Students are dropped off at 9am and picked up at 1pm at the Acorn studio entrance. Classes run on a one week basis. All art/craft materials provided by Acorn.

Loved:
Neve loves art, and was very excited to begin art camp this week.
Improvements:
Neve has consistently shared that she is able to do whatever she wants, but feels somewhat aimless and without instruction and structure. She explained that her first day, she did not know where the bathroom was and so she did not go all day. This seems quite unlike her, and it made me wonder about the level of contact that the campers have with staff and instruction. It would be helpful for us to have a better sense of this as she is booked for several more weeks.

Nothing..Pretty damned awesome all around. Meg is an inspiration to all of the students, be they younger or teens. My 14 year old has been taking classes for 5 years and absolute LOVES going to class. Summer camps at the Willows are brilliant too..don't hesitate to book any class at Acorn..you won't regret it!

My son LOVES his weekly time at Acorn. The instructors are so patient, kind, and supportive. He loves that he gets to paint what interests him! I love the vocabulary he is learning, the increased attention to detail, and the VERY supportive environment.
