Class Experience

Dive into the world of electricity and engineering in this electrifying workshop! Participants will create simple circuits and motorized gadgets, gaining a foundational understanding of how electricity powers our world. It’s a hands-on adventure perfect for budding engineers and inventors.

Sample Class Format

  • Welcome & Introduction (10 Minutes)

Brief explanation of circuits and motors, focusing on electricity, power, and how motors work.

Show a quick, engaging demonstration (e.g., powering a small motor or lighting up an LED circuit).

  • Exploration & Setup (20 Minutes)

Distribute circuit kits and motorized components (e.g., batteries, wires, switches, and motors).

Teach participants the basics of connecting a circuit:

Positive/negative connections.

Using switches to control the flow of electricity.

Allow participants to test simple circuits (e.g., lighting an LED or powering a small fan).

  • Build & Experiment (30 Minutes)

Participants create their own projects, such as:

A motorized car or fan.

A basic circuit with lights or sound.

Encourage experimentation with different setups:

What happens if the circuit isn’t complete?

How does changing battery power affect performance?

Provide optional challenges, like:

"Build the fastest motorized fan!"

"Can you light up two LEDs with one circuit?"

  • Collaboration & Innovation (20 Minutes)

Group activity: Combine individual circuits into a larger, collaborative project.

Example: Create a “powered chain reaction” where each participant’s circuit triggers the next.

Foster teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving in a fun, interactive way.

  • Show & Share (5 Minutes)

Participants showcase their projects to the group.

Share successes, challenges, and what they learned.

  • Wrap-Up (5 Minutes)

Recap key concepts like power flow, switches, and motor function.

  • Provide a take-home challenge or idea (e.g., "Create a circuit using household items!").
