Capoeira Angola

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art which combines

acrobatics, dance, fight, music, culture, history, and

philosophy. Classes are open to all levels and abilities and

are focused on developing a strong fundamental

vocabulary and understanding of the art.

Classes are 1.5 hours and consist of:

• Fundamentals warmup focused on technique and

building of the strength and agility.

• Across the floor and individual sequences incorporating

acrobatics, floor work, footwork, and defensive and

attacking movements

• Paired (2 by 2) sequences of attack and escape using

vocabulary developed during class

• Music practice including learning how to play the

instruments and rhythms of Capoeira Angola

• Learning songs of call and response in Portuguese.

No uniform is required but students are asked to please

wear comfortable fitting tee shirt, long pants, and

sneakers. Please hydrate before class....you will sweat!
