Class Experience
This FREE 12-week course introduces middle and high school students to the fundamentals of film editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe Cloud. Students will learn editing techniques, storytelling through video, and more. Each session will include a lesson and a practical activity where students will apply their learning to create a final project advocating for an issue they are passionate about. No experience needed.
Class Requirements
- Parents must provide signed permission form and video waiver for the year 2024
- Students are eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours based on attendance and participation.
Sample Class Format
- Learn Video Editing Basics: Learn the essential skills needed to edit compelling videos from start to finish.
- Hands-On Training in Adobe Premiere Pro: Gain practical experience using professional editing software.
- Enhance Your Videos with Audio and Effects: Learn to incorporate sound, transitions, and effects to bring your stories to life.
- Collaborative Learning Environment: Work with peers, share ideas, and provide constructive feedback to grow as a storyteller.
- Showcase Your Final Project: Complete a polished video project that demonstrates your skills and passion for advocacy.

Action Youth Media is a workforce development and media arts education center. Our mission is to create communities where young people build confidence using these skills to express themselves and to promote community building, multicultural understanding, and the common good. We offer free out-of-school programs for middle and high school students that provide inclusive spaces for youth to discover their interests, develop skills, prepare for their future, and thrive.
