Class Experience

S.H.I.N.E. Art Camp (Ages 8–13)

Support • Harmony • Inclusion • Nurture • Expression

Join us for a vibrant week of creative exploration at the S.H.I.N.E. Art Camp, hosted at Rose City Community Collective! This multimedia art camp is designed for young artists who want to dive into expressive projects, learn new techniques, and connect with others in a welcoming, creative environment.

Campers will work with both 2D and 3D art forms, experimenting with a wide variety of materials and methods to bring their ideas to life.

Camp Highlights:

📓 Custom Journals & Bookmaking
Campers will craft their own sketchbooks and journals using binding techniques, collage, and drawing — giving them a personal space to develop their creative ideas throughout the week.

🎨 Painting & Mixed Media
Young artists will explore color theory, composition, layering, and texture with painting and mixed-media techniques that let their individual voices shine.

✂️ Collage & Assemblage
Campers will collect and combine a variety of materials — from found objects to hand-drawn elements — to create unique, expressive works of art.

🗣️ Artist Spotlights
Each day will feature brief introductions to contemporary and historical artists whose work inspires bold creativity, resilience, and self-expression. These spotlights offer campers new ways to think about art and their own process.

🧠 Creative Community
This camp fosters a supportive space for young artists to share ideas, explore identity through art, and celebrate creativity together. Expect lively conversations, teamwork, and meaningful connections.

Loved:

Lgbt friendly.

Improvements:

My child made two pages of hand drawn stickers in 2 days of camp. She was excited to do the activities listed in the camp description but they didn’t do any of those. The head teacher showed up late on the second day- after 9 which made my other kid late for his scheduled meeting. One of the other older camp kids brought a bullet shell to camp. It seemed maybe not a great fit for all kids including littler kids. We have done other vibe camps and loved them but this was a disappointment.

This is our daughters 3rd pride art camp and she always has fun. Leo is very communicative, friendly and our daughter loves having him as an art teacher.

Loved:

My kiddo loved the projects and how Bryn and Allyn provided just enough structure while trusting the kids to navigate their own creative processes, giving them support as well as personal agency.

Improvements:

Just wish there was a second week of this camp!
