Class Experience
Take flight with an exciting week of drone exploration and STEAM challenges!
In this dynamic camp, young pilots will learn the basics of drone technology, coding, and flight principles. Campers will practice flying mini drones, program flight paths, and tackle fun aerial challenges. Through hands-on activities, kids will develop problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork skills. Each camper will receive a custom camp t-shirt and take home their own personalized mini drone at the end of camp!
Sample Class Format
- Camp Hours
Standard Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Extended Day Option:
Drop-off as early as 7:30 AM
Pick-up until 5:30 PM
Constructive activities during extended hours include coding puzzles, simulated flight practice, and creative play in the Discovery Zones.
One-Week Daily Schedule
- 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Morning Flight Briefing (drone trivia and warm-up activities)
- 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Drone Challenge
- Monday: Introduction to drone components and safe flying basics.
- Tuesday: Assemble and personalize mini drones; explore coding basics.
- Wednesday: Begin flight testing with obstacle courses and simple maneuvers.
- Thursday: Practice precision flying with aerial challenges like target landings.
- Friday: Complete the Drone Grand Prix and show off personalized drones!
- 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Snack Break & Drone Stories
- 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Discovery Zone Activities
Coding Station: Practice programming flight paths for drones.
LEGO Wall: Build drone launch pads or flight-related creations.
RC Tonka Pit: Simulate ground logistics and support.
Lite-Brite Wall: Create colorful flight paths and designs.
- 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM: Lunch Break
- 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM: STEAM Exploration
- Monday: Drone-related crafts (e.g., decorating flight maps).
- Tuesday: Experiment with aerodynamics and wind resistance.
- Wednesday – Friday: Free build and test zones for advanced flight practice.
- 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM: Special Weekly Activity
- Monday: Pop Jet Splash Pad and Gaga Ball
- Tuesday: Movie Day at Cinebistro Summer Film Fest
- Wednesday: Pop Jet Splash Pad and Outdoor Play
- Thursday: Outdoor Games and Challenges with the Outdoor Game Bag
- Friday: Outdoor Games and Drone Showcase Celebration
- 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM: Wrap-Up & Reflection (review projects and share highlights)
- 3:15 PM – 3:30 PM: Pick-Up for Standard Hours
Extended Day Activities (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM)
During extended hours, campers will engage in constructive activities like:
- Coding puzzles and simulated flight challenges
- Creative craft projects related to drones and aviation
- Free play with drone accessories in the Discovery Zones
Special Features
- Hands-On Learning: Build, code, and fly mini drones in a safe, engaging environment.
- Personalized Drones: Each camper will assemble and decorate their own mini drone to take home.
Weekly Highlights:
- Drone Flight Testing: Hands-on practice from Wednesday to Friday, including obstacle courses and a Drone Grand Prix.
- Tuesday Movie Day: Enjoy a fun film at Cinebistro Summer Film Fest.
- Monday & Wednesday Splash Pad: Cool off and play at the Stony Point Pop Jet area.
- Friday Showcase: Celebrate achievements with the Drone Grand Prix and final flight presentations.
Camp T-Shirt: Each camper receives a custom camp t-shirt to commemorate their flight adventures.
