CHOOSE YOUR CAMP:
Explore two distinct camps designed to inspire creativity, innovation, and a love for exploration. Whether you want to design and build your dream city or immerse yourself in the great outdoors, these camps offer unique learning experiences that combine hands-on projects, teamwork, and discovery.
Step into the world of urban design and architecture! This camp challenges campers to think like engineers and city planners as they create their own miniature cities. From designing buildings to planning green spaces and transportation systems, campers will explore the art and science of city design.
Key Activities:
- Create blueprints and scale models of city buildings.
- Design eco-friendly city features like parks and renewable energy systems.
- Build a collaborative cityscape as a group.
Get ready to explore, play, and build in nature off campus at True Timber! This camp combines outdoor skills with fun games and challenges. From bushcraft to disc golfing, zip lining, and scavenger hunts, campers will develop teamwork, problem-solving, and an appreciation for the great outdoors.

Key Activities:
- Learn how to play disc golf or improve skills
- Learn survival skills like shelter building and fire-making.
- Engage in scavenger hunts and outdoor problem-solving challenges.
- Participate in group games and nature-based crafts.
Notes
Note: If Choosing the Outdoor Adventures Camp, it will be held at True Timber Arborists located at 4050 Transport Pl, Richmond, VA 23234. Parents will drop their camper off and pick up at this location instead of the Discovery Center.

- DesignLab: City Edition Schedule
- 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: City Design Briefing
Fun trivia, riddles, and warm-up activities introducing engineering and urban planning concepts.
- 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Exploration Hour
- Monday: Building Basics – Learn about architecture and create blueprints.
- Tuesday: Transportation Systems – Design roads, bridges, and transit lines.
- Wednesday: Green City Planning – Add eco-friendly features like parks and wind turbines.
- Thursday: Smart Cities – Explore technology’s role in modern city design.
- Friday: Camper Choice – Refine your favorite designs or complete your cityscape for the final showcase.
- 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Snack Break & Reflections
- 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Hands-On Challenges
- Monday: Create scale models of buildings using cardboard and recycled materials.
- Tuesday: Build bridges and transportation routes with LEGO or Rigamajig.
- Wednesday: Design and assemble green spaces with creative materials.
- Thursday: Incorporate technology with light circuits for smart city features.
- Friday: Final Showcase – Present your cityscape to peers and parents.
