Class Experience

This week, you can dive deeper into the world of technology with Old Tech vs New Tech WK2 or embrace a chill, fun-filled vibe in Antisocial Anonymous, where it’s okay to be awkward and still have a blast. Whether you’re exploring how tech has evolved or enjoying a low-pressure social club, this week is about creativity, comfort, and connection.

Option 1: Old Tech vs New Tech WK2

Back for Week 2, or joining for the first time, this camp digs deeper into the tech behind everyday tools like Wi-Fi, GPS, and AI. Choose your project track—Music, TV, Video Games, or Navigation—and create a solution or concept that connects the old and new.

Key Activities:

  • Tech Evolution: Compare old-school inventions with modern upgrades.

  • Behind-the-Scenes Tech: Learn how Wi-Fi, AI, and GPS operate in everyday life.

  • Project Tracks: Pick your focus area and create a project:Music: Explore how music technology has evolved, from records to streaming.
TV: Compare broadcast systems with modern streaming services.
Video Games: Dive into the history of gaming consoles and create your own concept.
Navigation: Build a simple map app or study how GPS tech has transformed travel.

  • Tech Showcase: Present your project at the end-of-week exhibition.

Option 2: Antisocial Anonymous

If big crowds and non-stop chatter aren’t your thing, this camp is the perfect fit. Inspired by The Breakfast Club vibe, it’s a place where awkward is welcome, everyone gets a chance to relax, and activities are designed to be fun without the pressure of too much interaction.

Key Activities:

  • Rebellion in the Rec Room: Spend time with air hockey, arcade games, or quiet solo activities.

  • Silent Lab Challenges: Communicate with notes or signals to solve group puzzles.

  • Creative Projects: Make low-key, no-pressure art like Jelly Bean Self-Portraits or giant canvas collaborations.

  • Movie Time: Chill out with 80s and 90s classics, complete with popcorn and a cozy atmosphere.

  • Group Bonding (Optional): Work together to design a funny or ironic camp motto.

Notes

A full day of camp for teens is 8:30am - 3:30pm. We strive not to over schedule this age group so if extended day is needed, we will ensure there are age appropriate options in our Discovery Zones that can be more interesting than smart phones, but phones are welcome provided they can be put away during core camp experiences.

Sample Class Format

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Morning Warm-Up

Old Tech vs New Tech: Jumpstart the day with tech trivia or brainstorming ideas for your chosen project track: Music, TV, Video Games, or Navigation.

Antisocial Anonymous: Start the day your way—arcade basketball, doodling, quiet contemplation, or awkwardly sipping your morning drink.

  • 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Focused Exploration

Old Tech vs New Tech: Learn the mechanics behind Wi-Fi, AI, GPS, and other technologies. Compare old-school tools with their modern counterparts as you start developing ideas for your project.

Antisocial Anonymous: It’s Rebellion in the Rec Room—arcade basketball, air hockey, retro games, or silently dominating at Connect Four. No talking required.

  • 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Snack & Chill Time

Old Tech vs New Tech: Share ideas with your group or brainstorm solo.

Antisocial Anonymous: Enjoy snacks in comfortable silence or trade subtle nods with your fellow non-chatters.

  • 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Hands-On Projects & Activities

Old Tech vs New Tech: Start creating your chosen project: explore music streaming tech, design your own game concept, or study navigation tools. Bring your ideas to life with hands-on building and prototyping.

Antisocial Anonymous: Work together (in silence, of course) on Silent Lab Challenges—solving puzzles, creating marble runs, or building bizarre contraptions with only notes, gestures, or a raised eyebrow.

  • 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM: Lunch Break

Old Tech vs New Tech: Share progress with your group or enjoy solo time to reflect on your project.

Antisocial Anonymous: Sit where you like, eat how you like, and savor a perfectly pressure-free lunch. No “What are you working on?” questions here.

  • 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM: Discovery Zone Exploration

Everyone gets access to the Discovery Zones:

  • 3D Puzzles for problem-solving.
  • Pendulum Drip Canvas Art for creative relaxation.
  • Air Hockey & Ping Pong Tables for casual fun.
  • Retro Games Redux for nostalgic arcade vibes.
  • Micro Squish Pets Center to unwind with tactile crafting.

  • 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM: Advanced Projects or Creative Chaos

Old Tech vs New Tech: Finalize your tech project. Focus on the details of your playlist app, game concept, TV evolution presentation, or GPS-based solution.

Antisocial Anonymous: Get creative with Jelly Bean Self-Portraits or work on a sarcastic camp flag. Slogans like “Awkward & Awesome” or “We Showed Up” are highly encouraged.

  • 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM: Camp Showcase or Chill Time

Old Tech vs New Tech: Present your finished project to the group and explain how you’ve connected old and new technology in your track.

Antisocial Anonymous: Watch an 80s or 90s movie (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or The Breakfast Club). Popcorn is provided, and fist-pump endings are optional but encouraged.

  • 3:15 PM – 3:30 PM: Reflection & Wrap-Up

Old Tech vs New Tech: Celebrate your project’s success and exchange feedback.

Antisocial Anonymous: End the day with a subtle thumbs-up, an awkward but satisfying fist pump, or just a quiet nod of accomplishment.

  • Why This Works: Whether you’re uncovering the secrets of modern tech or embracing your inner misfit, both camps are designed to let you thrive in your own way. Choose the one that feels like you!
