Class Experience

Rock-a-Baby introduces music to infants and toddlers in fun and exciting new ways! With interactive play, children have a unique opportunity to be “in the band” and engage in a stimulating and educational musical experience. Every week a general theme will be introduced, through which three energetic teachers, zany puppets and wide-eyed children will explore simple musical concepts through live and recorded music.

There are many ways for a child to have a successful experience at Rock-a-Baby: rhythmic repetition and improvisation with real instruments made for children, melodic recognition, pictorial imagination, hand movement, body movement and more. Ranging from classical to jazz, and traditional children’s songs to rock ‘n roll, Rock-a-Baby is an experience that everyone can enjoy!

Notes

We want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time by remembering a few simple things:
1) Take your shoes off so when we’re moving around little fingers don’t get hurt.
2) Keep food and beverage outside the classroom - especially hot drinks!! Breast/bottle feeding is totally fine.
3) Keep an eye on and redirect your children if they get close to outlets, wires, and props.
4) If your child is having a hard time behaving (throwing, hitting, yelling, running, disrupting, etc...), please take them out of the room until they can be good listeners again.
5) Grown-ups may use phones, but please keep tabs on your child. They usually wander off when you’re not looking.
6) Grown-up voices carry… please keep chatting to a minimum so your kids can take it all in.
7) Participate as much as you’d like. There’s no pressure to sing along, but it always helps to get involved.
8) Dirty diapers can really spoil the mood. If you notice it, so does everyone else… time to change!
9) We clean and disinfect all of our props and instruments before every class.
THE FINE PRINT:
A few important things to remember about our classes:
1) Unless registered, siblings over six months old are not allowed without advance notice and $10 sibling fee. Please do not bring sick siblings to class.
2) We will be happy to refund the remaining balance of your fee within the first two weeks of class if you are not satisfied. After two weeks, all payments are final and cannot be refunded.
3) If your child is sick (showing symptoms, or having had symptoms within 24 hours of vomiting, diarrhea or rash) we recommend staying at home to help prevent the spread of diseases.
4) In case of absence due to sickness or other personal reasons, it is your responsibility to reschedule make-up classes during the session. We allow two make-ups per session and they can be rescheduled at any of our locations and at any of our class times, space permitting. Just email Marc@rockababymusic.com (or talk to him in class) to set it up.
5) In case of cancellations due to weather, parking bans, school closures, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, Rock-a-Baby will help reschedule a make-up that is convenient for you. In the event that you cannot reschedule a make-up class due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control, we will prorate the fee for the following session based on the number of canceled classes. This does not include sickness, travel, or other personal reasons.
Finally, we sometimes take pictures and video during class and post images on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, in various ad campaigns, and on our website. Please let us know if you do not want your child to appear in any of these. No questions asked!

Loved:

Everything! As a stay at home mom I am always looking for engaging activities for my almost two year old to do that gets us out of the house and having fun. I love the ever changing themes of the week as well as the consistency of the class. Miles is always asking me to play “baby” aka rock a baby on Spotify. This class has brought him out of his shell little by little. Wish we could attend everyday!

Improvements:

I love the location of the Cumberland class; we used to go to providence but this is much closer and the parking situation is much easier with a toddler. I would love it if the possibility of more days being available for the Cumberland location class.
