Class Experience

Prerequisite: Acting Unit 1

Continue your Acting Core Jounrey, with Acting Unit 2 which is rooted in the revolutionary techniques of Viola Spolin. Spolin is ideal for actors looking to enhance their spontaneity, creativity, and connection with others. This training develops your ability to respond in the moment, build authentic relationships, and heighten your awareness of the present.

  • Spontaneity and Presence: Master the art of "being in the moment" to keep your performances fresh and responsive.

  • Authentic Performances: Learn to generate genuine reactions, not pre-planned responses, for a more natural performance.

  • Enhanced Listening Skills: Develop the ability to truly hear your scene partners, picking up on subtle cues crucial for any scene.

  • Confidence on Set: Reduce self-consciousness through different acting exercises, helping you stay focused when performing.

  • Adaptability: Cultivate the flexibility to adjust quickly to direction and unexpected changes.

  • Character Objectives: Use Spolin's "Where, Who, What" framework to maintain your character's goals throughout the scene.

**In our Core Acting Program, our goal is for students to become more in control of their acting tools: Body, Voice and Emotions. There will be no working in front of a camera in our Core Acting Program.**

Loved:

I really enjoyed this workshop! It was interesting to watch the auditions and hear the adjustments from both coaches. And then having “callbacks” on the second day and incorporating what we learned to make our auditions better. Both coaches had positive constructive criticism and were very encouraging to everyone. It was a very positive environment and a very complete training experience. I feel like I am already a better actor for attending this workshop. Thank you! Sincerely, Nancy Cole

Improvements:

Can’t think of any improvements, the set up was very professional and the videotaped auditions all looked and sounded good!

I absolutely loved this class and the opportunity to hear the questions from the participants and answers plus more from Shelby Cherniat. It was an awesome online opportunity provided by Vagabond Through this class, I have a better understanding of the casting process both in LA and locally.

Improvements:

The only improvement I would like is to have more online opportunities from Vagabond
