Class Experience

This Nature Study class blends natural sciences, poetry, literature, art, and nature journaling to help children explore la naturaleza creatively. Each week, students will learn about a new facet of the natural world (i.e. snowflakes, birds' nests, animal tracks, comets, caves, hurricanes, and more) through engaging visuals, hands-on projects, and teacher-led discussion.
Miss Kendra also expertly weaves nature-inspired stories and poems (in Spanish) into her lesson plans so students can deepen their appreciation for the seasons, animals, and ecosystems of the world around us.
With these readings and science lessons to guide them, students will feel inspired to create their own poems and artwork. Often class will end with a creative project, like using natural materials to make a fairy house or putting together a simple bird feeder. These hands-on activities help reinforce scientific knowledge, boost specialized Spanish vocbaulary, and foster creativity.
Between classes, students are encouraged to go outdoors to observe the plants, animals, weather, and environment around them and record their observations by writing/sketching in a nature journals. The first ten minutes of each class are dedicated to sharing ones' observations and nature journal entries from that week. In sharing their discoveries and artwork, students will build a sense of community y una conexión más profunda con la naturaleza.
This class is full Spanish immersion (besides occasional English for clarification, as needed), but all Spanish levels are welcome. See our level descriptions here.

What you'll learn

Other Things To Know
Parental involvement will depend on the age & independence of the child. For younger kids (4/5), we encourage the parents to remain involved and make this a learning opportunity for you both!
Just nature journaling in between classes at whatever level your child is up for!
Refunds are available (minus 6.99% processing fee) for up to 3 days from date of booking, or up to 3 days before class/event begins, whichever comes first. After that, refunds will not be available.
How To Participate
Attend class via Zoom video
This class will be hosted on Zoom video conferencing platform. You will receive an email 30 minutes before class starts with a link to the class and access instructions. We recommend you make sure your device is up to date and meets all system requirements before class.
What To Bring
- A simple blank journal for recording their observations between classes (lined or unlined, whatever you prefer)
- Pen or pencil and colors for nature journaling
- Materials list for week-by-week materials will be sent out in advance via the private Google Classroom

Love the idea of a skill based Spanish class- much more engaging than a typical Spanish class
Improvements:
Still unclear what time it ends, never seems to end on time which is hard for bedtime Speaking/reminding to the kids that it doesn’t have to be perfect, my 5 yr old gets discouraged by not making a perfect picture :/. Other drawing channels sometimes have good slogans like “the most important thing is to have fun and practice - it doesn’t have to look like the teacher”

This class is fun and engaging. Kaila is kind, attentive, and keeps my 5 year old's attention. I love that it's mostly in Spanish but that she offers support to meet all students where they are at, and that my son is getting to do one of his favorite hobbies in Spanish! He looks forward to it every time!

About Bilingüitos Spanish Immersion
Bilingüitos exists to cultivate and celebrate bilingualism all around us.
