Class Experience
Clase de cocina, en español! Join us for a fun Spanish immersion elective that incorporates the love language we all speak: food!
Language, culture, and FOOD often go hand in hand, which is why we’re so excited to have Spanish immersion cooking class this year! Miss Estefany, a native of Mexico, will be bringing fun recipes from both her home country and some new fun favorites that your kids will be sure to love.
In this class, we invite students al mundo de la cocina where they can develop a passion for cooking. The benefits of this class are two-fold: your child will expand their Spanish vocabulary around food, the kitchen, and cooking tools, AND it will also help them develop a new skill as Miss Estefany leads them step by step through the recipes, increasing their independence and self-confidence.
Example dishes that we'll prepare together:
+ Fruit kebabs
+ Sopes (platillo mexicano)
+ Tortitas de plátano
+ Empanadas
+ Chocolate zucchini muffins
Come discover the world of cooking, en español!
This class is full Spanish immersion, but all Spanish levels are welcome. See our level descriptions here. Geared for ages 3 - 10; younger kids of course will need more active support than the older kids. :)
Your registration includes access to live classes as well as access to the class recordings for self-paced playback. See Recordings FAQ here!
Our teaching team is awesome. 😍 See all of the instructor bios, including Miss Estefany's, here!
What you'll learn
- Students will learn cooking skills, food and kitchen vocabulary, and more!
- Class is in full Spanish immersion but all Spanish levels are welcome.
Other Things To Know

We will be truly cooking in this class (i.e. stove, oven) so a parent is required to participate with their child. Younger kids will of course need more active support than the older kids.

Refunds are available (minus 6.99% processing fee) for up to 3 days from date of booking, or up to 3 days before class/event begins, whichever comes first. After that, refunds will not be available.
How To Participate
Attend class via Zoom video
This class will be hosted on Zoom video conferencing platform. You will receive an email 30 minutes before class starts with a link to the class and access instructions. We recommend you make sure your device is up to date and meets all system requirements before class.
What To Bring
- We'll be using kitchen items like bowls, knives (you'll want to get some kid-safe knives), spoons, spatulas, cutting board, etc.
- As well as kitchen appliances like a stove, oven or air fryer, blender, etc. We'll suggest alternatives if there's anything you don't have :)
- Full materials and ingredients lists will be sent to you in advance.
- Instructor will post ingredients lists 2 weeks in advance so that you have time to gather the items. :)

Loved:
Love the idea of a skill based Spanish class- much more engaging than a typical Spanish class
Improvements:
Still unclear what time it ends, never seems to end on time which is hard for bedtime Speaking/reminding to the kids that it doesn’t have to be perfect, my 5 yr old gets discouraged by not making a perfect picture :/. Other drawing channels sometimes have good slogans like “the most important thing is to have fun and practice - it doesn’t have to look like the teacher”

Loved:
This class is fun and engaging. Kaila is kind, attentive, and keeps my 5 year old's attention. I love that it's mostly in Spanish but that she offers support to meet all students where they are at, and that my son is getting to do one of his favorite hobbies in Spanish! He looks forward to it every time!
Improvements:
Nothing- we love the class!!
