Class Experience
This "Kidz Home Alone" course can be done on any device (ex. Laptop, Smartphones, Tablets) and can be done from any environment that has access to WIFI. The student must have microphone and camera access through their device. The curriculum includes home alone safety, Self-Heimlich maneuver, First Aid, Microwave safety, and more!
Notes
This class requires high speed internet, device with webcam and microphone.
Other Things To Know
You must cancel 24 hours in advance of the start of the class for a refund, or we can reschedule your child into another class or session.
How To Participate
You will receive an email 30 minutes before class starts with a link to the class and access instructions.

It was really the perfect introduction for my daughter and us as parents to start thinking about what we need to do to get her ready to stay home alone. It was also a motivation and a bit of a milestone for my daughter to complete her "homework" of staying home alone (we just did 15 minutes one day). Since it was assigned, my daughter didn't get so nervous. It was a small class so my daughter got to share and show what she did and didn't know, so that then I could go over it with her.
Improvements:
I like the idea of the videos and that it broke things up a bit. A couple of times there were technical glitches that prevented us at home from seeing the whole videos. It might also be nice to spend some time actually practicing the self-heimlick (well, not ACTUALLY, but taking the time for people to find the surface that is the right height etc).

HI Mara, Thank you so much for your review. I am so happy the homework and the class were helpful! We will consider taking your feedback about finding a place to "practice" the Heimlich manuever on a surface at home. Maybe we should incorporate that as part of the homework assignment. I will discuss this with my staff!

Could be more interactive/hands on. Would've been much better in-person, but I understand the circumstances didn't allow for it. I also recommend Enriching Kidz be enrolled in the ACE program, if not already.

I loved how all of the topics covered were comprehensive and presented in an organized way.
Improvements:
Our class only had two children, who were very different ages and experience levels. I was disappointed that there weren’t more children my child’s age and was hoping for her to share experience and discussion with children who were her age. I don’t think I would recommend this class because the shared experience was what I was hoping for. I could have presented the information as a parent- but gathering a group of children to discuss it is what I wanted for her. It should have been cancelled.

The flexibility to take it online. That it gave me confidence leaving my child home alone.
Improvements:
The instructor had to spend over 10 mins of the first class calling people who forgot to get on and trouble shooting with them because they didn’t know how to get on zoom. The other kids just sat there waiting during that time and the class still ended right on time meaning they lost over ten mins of instructional time. It would be a good idea to have someone besides the instructor available for tech support.
