Hosted in our 3,000 square foot flagship makerspace in NYC featuring inspiring presenters in STEAM, interactive art, student and local maker gallery, STEAM workshops, and much more.

Christina Perla, Makelab Founder
Christina Perla is the Co-Founder and CEO of Makelab, an on-demand 3D printing service supporting consumer, robotics, and medical brands. With over seven years in additive manufacturing, Christina is a recognized industry leader, earning a spot on the Forbes Next 1000 list in 2021.
Her mission is to redefine 3D printing accessibility through a hub-and-spoke model, optimizing speed, quality, and scalability for seamless production. Under her leadership, Makelab has partnered with industry giants like Lixil, Quip, Estée Lauder, and Peloton, delivering high-precision prototypes and end-use parts.
Beyond Makelab, Christina is on the Board of Directors for Industrial Designer Society of America (IDSA). She was also previously deeply involved with Women in Design (WID IDSA), Hardware Meetup, and Women in 3D Printing.
Dave Sheinkopf, Smooth Technology Founder
"BBQ Dave" Sheinkopf is a creative technologist with a background in education and arts administration. His skill set and body of work is diverse-- designing and building custom electronics for the world’s biggest brands, developing curriculum for all ages, and creating public programming at the intersection of arts and technology.
In 2015, Sheinkopf co-founded Smooth Technology, an experiential production studio that designs, builds and implements specialized technology solutions. There, he has been responsible for carrying projects from conception to completion for clients ranging from multinational corporations to museums to pop stars.

The location was bright & spacious.
Improvements:
My child didn’t learn much. Would be nice if he learned about 3D printing or how it’s done. It seemed like he just played on a computer.

We’re glad you enjoyed the space. Tinkercad can feel like play, and it teaches key aspects of 3D design. The designs will be 3D printed and ready for pickup within a week. When you stop by, we’d be happy to discuss the process. Workshops provide an introduction, while our weekly enrollments dive deeper over 10 weeks.
