Class Experience

PAAM Studio Nights are a series of weeknight events in which participants come together to enjoy artmaking in PAAM’s studios. This series features local teaching artist, MiYoung Sohn, who will demonstrate a variety of techniques, with plenty of time after the demos for participants to create and share art. Participants may attend one event in the series, or all three.

Talk and Draw, the first session, is an interactive portrait drawing workshop to explore visual interpretation through conversation and drawing. We will have rotating timed sessions to get to know each other while making portraits. Portrait partners will incorporate information from their conversation to enhance their subject by exploring color, style and expression. We will change partners to allow for multiple interpretations.

The second session, Talk and Draw Together, is a collaborative drawing workshop to work together as a team while getting to know each other. Each team will collectively create their theme, concept and composition. There will be rotating timed sessions to work with different teams for variation.

Cut, Paste, Okay!, the last session, is a collage workshop to let go. Anything goes! Make random cuts, arrange shapes and allow for the work to guide you. We will have timed sessions to be nimble and experimental including collaborative sessions for broader experimentation.
