Class Experience

In this introductory oil painting class we will approach this centuries old medium through an exploration of color mixing. On day one, we will use limited color palettes to create a wide range of hues. By the end of the day we will have created a collective palette that demonstrates the range that can be achieved through mixing just a few colors in varying proportions. On day two, participants will bring in objects to paint from and will be guided through creating small paintings using one of the color palettes from the day before. Demonstrations and discussion will include: mixing tools and approaches, oil mediums, brushes, cleaning, and surfaces. If you are new to oil paint, this is a great way to dive in. If you are already familiar with oil, come ready to explore color. All materials included in the workshop price.
