Class Experience
Focus on a one-part mold as an introduction to working with plaster and mold-making techniques. On the first day, the instructor will explain step-by-step how to select a form to make a successful mold, then methodically demonstrate the process of preparing the mold and mixing plaster. On day two, participants will bring a simple curved vessel to make a mold, and practice mixing the right amount of plaster.
If you have ever wanted a specific shaped hump mold, your own plaster slab, or you’re just curious about working with plaster, this workshop is designed for you! No previous experience with clay or plaster is necessary. Students should bring a well-fitting mask (N95 or better). All other materials will be provided. Please note: these molds are not intended for slipcasting.
Saturday, May 17, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 31, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m
