Class Experience
Participants work with their classmates and the instructor during class to develop basic intermediate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in immersively; all class activities are conducted primarily in German. The two A2-level courses are for those who are looking to learn German in a formal setting.
Those who fully participate in and complete two semesters of each A2-1 & A2-2, four semesters in total, will ideally be prepared for the A2 Goethe Exam, recognized globally as proof of German language ability. Class Requirements
- 2 semesters of A2-1 or equivalent
- Online Placement Exam (20+ pts on the A2.1 exam): https://www.hueber.de/momente/einstufungstest
What you'll learn
- Traffic and transportation, vacation and travel, personal documentation, cooking and dining, home life, workday, and entertainment media.
Sample Class Format
Once a week in a 1.5 hour meeting, students work through activities in the coursebook in partners, small groups, and collectively as a class. Chapters are organized thematically. Students answer questions, written and verbally, in response to:
- reading texts
- listening to dialogues, and
- watching short videos
Other Things To Know

Participants work through activities in the workbook, which supplement the content from class lessons. Participants should expect to spend at least an equal amount of time outside of class in addition to weekly class meetings. Work in the workbook is checked independently via an answer key.

- Prior to first class – 90% refund of the tuition amount
- Prior to the second class – 70% refund
- Prior to the third class – 50% refund
- No refund is available after the third class

ABOUT THE TEXTS:
The textbook can alternatively be purchased digitally or print in halves (chapters 1 - 12 and 13 - 24, for the “Momente A2.1” and “Momente A2.2” texts, respectively). Or you may purchase the complete text (chapters 1 - 24, "Momente A2", linked above) with print and digital access.
Serious students who are planning on taking the Goethe Exam may optionally elect to purchase the “Intensivtrainer” for further independent study and review of the material.

About German Free School
We offer German classes for all ages, including adult classes and formal classes for homeschool, private school, and other younger learners. We also serve as a Goethe Institute testing center, and our curriculum aligns with the Goethe Institut and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; classes prepare interested students for the Goethe German language proficiency exams, recognized globally as proof of German-language ability.
