Class Experience
Daring Dashers (18 months - 2.5 years old) need to investigate everything and see how it all works! They will be invited to go on their own, make some friends, and get their hands and feet dirty learning how different textures feel and smell as they squeeze, dig, pull, pour, shovel, and fill all sorts of things. Along the way, they will be picking up an array of new vocabulary in each sensory adventure.
Notes
SENSORY MATERIALS: Our classes incorporate various sensory materials for children to explore. Many of these sensory materials are choking hazards. Our goal is to have children experience various materials and learn how to “play” with these items as they gain confidence touching new materials, developing fine motor skills and learning through the play. Caregivers attending the class with their child remain with the child at all times and are fully responsible for their child during the entire class to ensure that each child is given one-on-one attention and to make sure the materials are kept away from their mouths.
CAREGIVER POLICY: A caregiver must attend and be attentive and participate in each class. Caregivers are solely responsible for the child(ren) in their care during the class. We use various materials such as paint, water, chalk, etc which will get on the child and caregiver alike so please dress appropriately.
REFUND POLICY: All classes/programs are non-refundable, as the numbers affect overall planning and coordination. Hugs & Bugs Club has a similar registration process as a community program or childcare centre. Once you sign up, your spot is reserved and materials/programming are planned around these numbers. Thank you for recognizing all of the time and effort that goes into preparing for your child's time in our studio! We completely understand when life happens and will miss you until you return! No refunds for missed classes.
HEALTH POLICY: We ask all of our families to take a personal assessment of their child, themselves and everyone within their household prior to attending class each day. This is to make sure we are all healthy and ready to play and learn with friends. We have experienced a wonderful school year last year and it was mainly because children attended class when healthy and remained home if they or a family member was experiencing symptoms. If your child has any symptoms of any illness, please have them remain home for 72 hours after symptoms subside.
MAKEUP POLICY: We understand life happens and sniffles occur. Our students are permitted to makeup TWO missed classes if the student has cancelled by 6pm for morning classes and at least 6-hours prior for afternoon classes. No shows and cancellations that do not follow these guidelines will not be given a makeup class. Students permitted a makeup can reschedule for another class by emailing hi@hugsandbugsclub.com or personally with their teacher after class. Make-ups will only be scheduled during the current session and cannot be used towards any other service. If class is cancelled due to inclement weather, all students will receive a make-up class and classes may be added at the end of the session to accommodate missed classes due to weather. Makeups must be attended during active enrollment and during current session. No makeups for our school, camps and events.
SNACKS: We provide a single store packaged fruit snack at the end of each class, which you may accept or not. This is a lovely sensory experience and adds a communal feeling to the classes. Please do not feed children home snacks during our classes as this is distracting and may cause allergies to other children.
ITEMS TO BRING EACH CLASS: Please bring a labelled water bottle for your child. If you are in an outdoor class, please bring an all weather mat for you and your child to sit on during class, personal baby wipes and personal hand sanitizer.
BATHROOM: We have a bathroom in our space. If you are in an outdoor class we have access to public bathrooms only.
