Class Experience
The artist Charles Sovek is known for his gestural and joyous plein air paintings, with several works depicting scenes of Outer Cape life.
Part art history, part plein air studio, this workshop is a unique educational experience. We will begin by viewing original Sovek paintings on exhibit at the PAAM Museum School and learning about his craft through the short PBS documentary series: Plein-Air: Painting the American Landscape. Following a lesson on palette set-up and basic plein air principles, we will then go outside to try our hand at capturing the color and light of the Outer Cape.
This workshop embraces the spirit of Charles Sovek's work: quick, intuitive, and relaxed. Guided by plein air painter Mary Giammarino, this offering is perfect for artists of all levels looking to freshen up their practice through both inspiration and hands-on experience. Materials included in price of workshop.
