Class Experience

This workshop is inspired by the proven benefits of using improvisation to enhance creativity. Participants will be guided to make sketches from a clothed model. This will include drawing from the model, the instructor, and each other. Another exercise will include drawing from and with the model as performer. Next, the class will visit the PAAM’s galleries on the lower level for a discussion on the ways in which some artists use staging to set up a drawing. Participants will then return to the classroom to assist the model in creating a modified tableau vivant* to draw from. Individual expression and contributions will be encouraged, resulting in a shared art experience for all.

* tableau vivant, a motionless performance evoking a painting or sculpture; or a painting or photograph evoking a theatrical scene
