Class Experience
Online SAT Prep Class
This online SAT course includes 7 classes that are each 2hrs in length and 2 practice tests via the College Board Bluebook App. The course is designed to cover the 4 sections of the exam: Reading, Writing & Language, Math (No Calculator and Calculator) and the optional Essay. Each class will include a lesson and independent practice to finish problem sets. Scores will be tracked in order to improve performance. The course focuses on test taking skills, time management, strategic thinking/planning and detailed lessons on SAT topics. The strategies covered range from broad strokes, such as prioritizing passages for the Reading section or taking advantage of the easy-to-hard organization of the Math questions, to nuanced tips for specific question types. Not only will this course show students the right way to answer questions, it will also demonstrate the fastest most efficient way.
Topics include:
Math: Algebraic linear equations, systems of equations, rates, ratios, proportions, percentages, statistics, probability, functions, quadratics, exponents, radicals, polynomials and Geometry
Writing & Language: passage organization, conventions of punctuation, sentence structure, transitions - Reading: command of evidence, textual support, vocab-in-context, detail, inference, author's purpose, point of view, rhetoric and literary devices
Essay: how to plan, write, and revise a top-scoring essay.
The course includes: 14 hours of instruction, weekly HW, practice tests

Taking a mock test is a great opportunity for practice. Thanks for organizing it. It was good to have it on a Sunday for parents to facilitate and for the students to take it after resting over the weekend.
Improvements:
The test instructions could be made clearer. It was not specified whether parents needed to print the test in advance, which caused some confusion. Additionally, the Scantron form was only emailed shortly before the exam, making last-minute printing stressful—this could have been shared earlier. At the end of the exam, the proctor mentioned that additional time would be given to submit answers online, but the Zoom call ended abruptly without a clear conclusion or closing remarks.

Improvements:
2 hours after the exam concluded I was informed that my child could have had extended test taking time. This is crucial information that should have been given BEFORE the exam.

The opportunity to practice this exam
Improvements:
Proctor should arrive at least 15 minutes early. Since the proctor arrived after most of the test takers, the beginning of the exam was disorganized and increased anxiety. Also during the exam, there was music playing in a nearby apartment that was distracting.
