Class Experience
Exploring Identity: Integrating Art & Ethnic Studies
This dynamic professional development session is designed for all educators, not just art teachers, who are seeking innovative ways to meet California’s new Ethnic Studies graduation requirement.
Exploring the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum theme of Identity, participants will explore how visual art can serve as a powerful tool to deepen students' understanding and enhance learning outcomes. Aligned with the National Core Art Standards, this session equips educators with contemporary art resources, creative techniques, and adaptable project ideas that can be seamlessly integrated into various subjects.
Attendees will leave with practical strategies to foster student engagement, promote cultural awareness, and build a stronger sense of community in any classroom.

Loved:
I especially enjoyed the discussion we had about identification and how that can be expressed and encouraged through art making for all ages. I really appreciate the thorough research and shared information you provide, to help us be better art instructors. It is very valuable and I can't wait to apply many of the things I learned, and that were brought to focus, in my teaching. Thank you!
Improvements:
The material, the space, the information, the day and time scheduled, the atmosphere, the instructor, and the participants all contribute to a comfortable and worthwhile learning experience. The time goes by so quickly! The only minor thing I can even think of is perhaps having a print out of the slides you show during the discussion. Not necessary, but I found I was taking pictures of some slides for the information on them. So grateful for what you do for our community!
