Class Experience
Students will design their own video-games using software developed by MIT media lab called Scratch. They will learn to be programmers: use logic, develop and piece together code to make their own games. As they build and move through such games as our “Adventure”, “Maze” and “Platform” games, they will advance their coding skills and increase the complexity of what they’re working on to more and more realistic games. In this class, students often go from being uncertain about what programming is, to being confident about their ability to come up with their own game and design it in a single class. Scratch was developed by Dr. Mitchel Resnick of the MIT Media Lab and associates. Dr. Resnick is one of Robofun’s Board members and trusted advisors.

Loved:
My son enjoyed creating his own madlibs, mods and learning how to design circuits in his Coding & Game Design class. He was thrilled by the hands-on experience and the ability to bring his imaginative ideas to life through coding.

Loved:
Teaches children about robotics. Overall classes are good.
Improvements:
If possible, would appreciate, if some pics/ videos could be sent about activities, with a brief explanation, of what the children are working on. We are also looking for greater focus from our little one, on the activity, so any feedback on her progress will help. as she is easily distracted. Finally, if possible, having the same teachers may be helpful.

About Robofun
RoboFun offers dynamic workshops for children using cutting edge technologies. Children ages 3 – 12 (Pre-K to 6th grade) come to our studio on 102nd Street and Broadway in Manhattan to build and program robots, design and construct video games and make stop-motion animations. Your child will learn about engineering, coding, and creative thinking. Our work is based on children’s innate passion and curiosity and our workshops allow children to become makers and designers. We run creative after-school programs and train teachers in over 100 schools in the New York City area.
