Through a combination of guided exercises, scene work, and in-depth discussions, you’ll learn how to analyze a script, understand your character's objectives, and discover their emotional landscape. This class focuses on building a strong foundation in character backstory, physicality, and voice, giving you the tools to portray a character with authenticity and depth, no matter the role.
Sample Class Format
- How to break down a script and create a detailed character biography.
- Techniques for discovering and embodying your character’s physicality and movement.
- Methods to unlock emotions and understand motivations through character analysis.
- The importance of objectives, obstacles, and stakes in character development.
- How to transform a character’s voice to reflect their personality and emotional state.

Other Things To Know
Students will have several projects to develop their characters over this course. Including backstory, collages, animal work, and scene work.
