Class Experience
Learn the fundamentals of guitar through the styles of Classical, Flamenco, and Spanish Guitar. This class is perfect for absolute beginners to guitar—we start you from the very beginning, ensuring you build a strong foundation step by step. The course includes 8 weekly 1-hour classes and is taught online with live, interactive instruction via Skype or Zoom by Elysa and/or Jason Hochman of the Quarantined Quartet, founders of the New York Guitar Academy.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Learn the five essential right-hand techniques: arpeggio, picado, pulgar, rasgueo, and tremolo, applied through full solo guitar pieces.
- Learn Flamenco styles such as Rumba, Malagueña, and Soleá, and Classical styles like Vals and Milonga.
- Play beginner-friendly songs and works by renowned composers.

- Sheet music, tablature, and video: We provide sheet music, tablature, and videos for all music taught.
- Class recordings: All classes are recorded and shared with you to reference as needed.

Notes
This is an online class. It is currently scheduled to be taught via Skype to allow ease of recording and messaging for all students and teachers. If you do not have Skype we can easily change the format to be Zoom or Google Hangouts upon your request.
How To Participate

This class will be hosted on Zoom video conferencing platform. You will receive an email 30 minutes before class starts with a link to the class and access instructions. We recommend you make sure your device is up to date and meets all system requirements before class.

Our guitar teacher Elisa is incredibly patient and awesome at providing feedback to improve our technique. Each lesson builds new skills and gives us a new repertoire to practice and master. I really look forward to each class & enjoy learning with others in my class. The class recordings and video tutorials help reinforce learning and assist post class practice. The group experience has helped me focus and has really helped with my performance anxiety.

Flexibility to sign up for blocks of lessons or ad hoc sessions, I.e. no annual or ongoing commitment. I appreciate this is not ideal for the school/instructor but it allows me to learn at my pace - otherwise I wouldn’t sign up at all! Thanks you… I’m impressed at how well the group class is instructed online. The instructor doesn’t seem to miss much!
