Class Experience
The intent of this class is to generate varied works to complete a portfolio for the explicit intention of applying to colleges and scholarships. Upon completion of this course, the student will be prepared for the demands and rigors of art school. As experienced draftsmen and painters, these students will understand conceptual and analytic aspects of art criticism and art history. This class works with the figure, and there are models (wearing bathing suits) as well as assignments designed to help the student create a diverse portfolio.

Please bring your own canvases and brushes. We sell a set of 2 brushes at the door for $16.

What do I love about Acorn? Everything! Such a cool space to hang with/make new friends while making cool art!
Improvements:
Nothing..Pretty damned awesome all around. Meg is an inspiration to all of the students, be they younger or teens. My 14 year old has been taking classes for 5 years and absolute LOVES going to class. Summer camps at the Willows are brilliant too..don't hesitate to book any class at Acorn..you won't regret it!

My daughter almost floated out of class tonight. She has really found her people, a place where she feels welcome and valued, and top notch artistic instruction. I am so thankful for Acorn.
Improvements:
It would be nice if the portfolio class included instruction on taking quality digital photos of their work, creating a website, and writing a bio and artist statement.

My daughter is 13- almost 14, and has been taking classes with Deborah, Jack, and their staff at Acorn Gallery School of Art since she was in kindergarten. Despite introducing her to a pluggers of different activities and sports over the years, this is the ONLY class she has stuck with for this many years. She loves it. The staff are wonderful, warm, kind, and inclusive. She feels welcome and a sense of belonging. Their oil painting instruction is fantastic-her skills have grown so much there.
