Class Experience
This class is the 5th in the Rhythmic-Solfège Sequence. Rhythmic-Solfège builds on the principles of learning music through movement with the addition of focused musical study on keyboard percussion; the end goal of the sequence is comprehensive musicianship!
This is a process-oriented program using the Dalcrozian tenants of joy, discovery and experiential education as its foundation, and delving into musical subjects and literature. With the same principles and foundation as Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Rhythmic Solfège is designed to increase coordination, spatial awareness, flexibility, focus, emotional knowledge, and vocal precision.
The Dalcroze Rhythmic Solfège sequence provides all of the necessary building blocks to achieve success with any instrument. We are grateful to The Dalcroze School of Music & Movement for providing curriculum for all of our Rhythmic Solfège classes.

Class Requirements
- At the end of each level of Rhythmic-Solfège, Exit Evaluations with a Jury of professional musicians/teachers will take place in order to assess each student’s level. Please note that students do not move on to the next level unless they pass the Exit Evaluation. Exit Evaluations take place each April or May.
- There will be joyful opportunities for students to share their knowledge through class performances for parents/caregivers throughout the year. The Exit Evaluation is another important opportunity for students to prepare and share their skills with confidence and pride.
Other Things To Know

Written homework assignments and weekly practicing expectations ensure students process, retain, and rehearse the skills and understanding gained in class. We ask that parents/caregivers practice with their child a minimum of 10 minutes, 5 days each week to ensure that their child is progressing and maximizing his or her potential in addition to completing their homework.
