Class Experience
Pre-Instruments class is for students who are ready to explore instruments a little more in-depth than what Music Immersion offers: piano, ukulele, world drums. Students will get their hands on these instruments, learn basic scales, chords, and rhythms, as well gain an understanding basic musical terms that accompany these instruments. Similar to Music Immersion, students will be exposed to various genres, world music, and music history, and get their grooves on through music and movement. Our goal at Naptown Sings and Plays! is to provide a pathway to success from birth through the school years, and pre-instruments is the perfect bridge between Music Immersion and our more specialized offerings of Private Lessons and Glee! Welcome to Pre-Instruments
We are so excited you are taking this step in your child’s education and that you have chosen us to guide your little ones and through the experience of Pre-Instruments. Throughout this semester and in future courses, you will see your little one blossom musically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially. It is a beautiful thing! Pre-Instruments is for students who are ready to explore instruments a little more in-depth than what Music Immersion offers: piano, ukulele, world drums. Students will get their hands on these instruments, learn basic scales, chords, and rhythms, as well as gain an understanding of the basic musical terms that accompany these instruments. LOCATION:
The Naptown Sings and Plays! Studio: 141 Gibralter Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401. Parking is available in the front and rear of the building.
INSTRUMENTS: Instrument packs to keep will be provided when your child joins class for the first time. If you are dropping in, you may borrow an instrument pack. If any drop-in students wish to purchase the pack, the cost is $10. Please venmo the money to @naptownsings or PayPal to sophia@naptownsings.com. Our staff will be unable to accept cash or card payments on site.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: On inclement weather days, when it is unsafe to go to the studio, we will meet virtually. Please check social media for any class changes. We send e-mails, as well, but we’ve found sometimes they end up in SPAM or don’t go through (for unknown reasons). Social media is a sure way to know what’s going on. PRE-INSTRUMENTS PARTICIPATION: In general, this class should be taken without parent participation. Parents are welcome to watch the class.
MISSED CLASSES: If you have to miss a class, you are welcome to make it up at any other Pre-Instruments class or any Music Immersion class on our schedule, within the current semester, or in any other M. Please e-mail us at info@naptownsings.com to let us know. We are unable to accommodate make-up classes after the semester ends.

Class Requirements
- Policies for Musikgarten, Music Immersion and Pre-Instruments:
- Cancellation: Don't be deterred by the long-looking "semesters". Only one month's notice is required to stop or pause via e-mail to info@naptownsings.com.
- Registration Fee: A $35 registration fee will be assessed when you register and annually on September 1st. This will cover your registration and your instrument pack for the class! If you register for the holiday session and roll over into January, your registration fee is waived!
- Missed Classes: If you have to miss your own class, you may make it up. See the Missing Classes section of our policies page.
- If you join mid-month, your fee will be pro-rated.
- Days Off: Your teacher may take up to 4 days off during the year, and you will occasionally have a substitute. You may join another class the week of an off day, but if you can’t make it, don’t stress. The days off are already calculated into your flat-rate monthly fee.
- Inclement Weather: On inclement weather days, please check your e-mails and social media. If it is unsafe to drive to the studio, we will hold classes virtually! A link will be sent to your e-mail.

Our granddaughter loves everything about this class: Miss Amanda, her classmates, their families, and most of all, the musical experience!! This is the best class to perk a child's interest in many aspects of music!!

Marie absolutely loved Ms. Maddie. She made class so fun and is a really great teacher! I was shocked at how much progress Marie has made since starting Glee Club 3 sessions ago. She felt particularly bonded to Ms. Maddie, who is such a great role model with fun energy and general cool vibes.
Improvements:
The class size was just a bit too big this time around which caused Marie to be less engaged and ultimatly loose interest overall. With so many kids in the class I observed additional down time and less time for each kid to be singing and engaged. Another thought that could maybe help would be to cut the songs down (ie, 2 mins or similar to how the kids talent shows cut down the music) to allow more interactive class time for all.
