Welcome to Mini Art Camp, two and a half hours of creativity and community where painters are encouraged to fully come into their own artistic style and voice. This camp will take place at First Congregational Church of Western Springs. The children will explore both the wonders of the cosmos.

Our day begins and ends outside with a flexible fifteen-minute window for drop off and pick up.

Outside, we use sidewalk chalk and large bubbles to relax and enter into an artistic mindset. This is the space where community and friendship begin. 

Inside, we use professional quality materials and 11 x 14-inch canvases to create paintings within the week. Each day is loosely structured around a drawing and painting lesson that encourages creative expression and results in a completed piece of artwork.

There are opportunities for breaks to create jewelry and sculpt with clay. Please send your child artist with images of things that they love so that the work can be even more full of relevance and meaning.

Throughout Mini Art Camp, the only rules that guide our time together are respect and kindness for all humans, for the physical space, and for the materials. There are no “mistakes” or “rules” in our art making, there are only opportunities to take safe risks and to think and create freely.
