How do NASA engineers and designers think and what problems are they trying to solve right now?
Those are the questions we’ll take on in this virtual workshop led by a MODA instructor.
We’ll learn how lunar landings work and talk about the ways that robots help us with space exploration. We’ll also talk about some of the challenges facing NASA engineers and designers now and try our hand at solving them.
Along the way, students will get familiar with a free, online, computer-aided design programming that they can keep using for other projects even after this workshop!
During this virtual workshop, students will:
Learn about and build upon established knowledge about outer space, especially the moon and lunar landings
Tackle design problems that NASA engineers are facing right now and try to come up with solutions
Become familiar with an easy-to-use and free computer-aided design (CAD) program that they can keep using even after the workshop
Learn how design impacts space exploration
Discuss design and engineering careers related to space exploration
Become familiar with engineering design processes and design thinking processes
Give and receive constructive feedback
Equipment needed:
A way to connect virtually via Zoom, Teams, or another platform (MODA can provide this if you cannot)
A laptop and a mouse or a tablet for each student
Each student will need to create a free account on TinkerCad.com prior to the workshop. They can keep using this after the workshop for other projects!
