Class Experience

Campers will spend an adventurous week practicing their skills to survive in the wilderness! They’ll learn to build a fire, identify useful plants, cook over fires, and build nature forts. Campers will keep cool each day by enjoying the cold spring fed pool located on this private 115 acre oasis.

Other Things To Know

Cancellation Policy
  • 30 days or more before camp start date you will be given a full refund - minus a $100 registration fee
  • 14-29 days prior to the camp starting date, you will be given a 50% refund
  • 13 days or less - no refunds

What To Bring

  • 6 full changes of clothing for summer time weather in Texas
  • Comfortable clothes that can get dirty and are appropriate for the weather work best at camp - dont bring your favorite clothing to show off at camp because it will likely get ripped, burned, torn, scratched, misplaced or otherwise damaged while on adventures
  • Pair of light pants to help prevent mosquito bites
  • Shoes that are comfortable for playing running around games in addition to any other shoes packed - if these can get wet, great - please see below...
  • Sturdy close toed shoes that can get wet such as keens or L-Run (work best for the jagged rocks and water that may have some sticks on the bottom)
  • Sleepwear - it gets warm in the evening so something that breathes well
  • 2 towels (one for showers and one for swimming)
  • Swimsuit
  • Water shoes (will be needed for river play)
  • Tent (as small as possible for your camper - 4 person size max as we do not have all the space to place tents as we want to maximize safety together and not be spread out all over) - practice setting up together before camp
  • Rain fly for the tent and perhaps an additional tarp for a ground mat
  • Sheet or light weight blanket (even lightweight sleeping bags are too warm in the summer)
  • Outdoor sleeping mat/pad - ensure it works well before coming to camp
  • Pillow - please dont send 4 or 5 pillows
  • Rain-gear or poncho (rain jacket & pants)
  • Bug spray and anti-itch cream/spray!
  • Sunscreen/Large Sun Hat
  • Flashlight or headlamp + batteries
  • 1 full water bottle, at least 32 oz. (Lots of on site water + Berkey filters)
  • Toiletries to consit of toothbrush, toothpaste, wash cloth, towel for showers – avoid any scented items because they could attract insects
  • All shampoo, body wash, soap, etc. should be biodegradable
  • Small Backpack or Daypack for hikes and exploration
  • This is in ADDITION to whatever else you pack all your camper's other gear in.
  • All meals/snacks are provided through Friday’s lunch 
  • Mess Kit (non-breakable plate, bowl, spoon, fork, knife, cup) - PLEASE DO NOT PACK ANY GLASS ITEMS
  • Medications (if applicable) – Please list all medications on your child’s registration form under allergies. Any medications must be given to the staff at check-in on Monday morning and will be administered on schedule for the week with staff and camp director.
  • Knife - Morakniv Craftline Basic with Stainless Steel Blade and Sheath (3.6 in blade). 
  • If you purchased a knife during registration it will be given to your child on Monday at start of camp. Please inform them to keep it away until we begin knife safety for the week.
  • If you chose to purchase a knife on your own, please be sure to send it with your camper to camp for the week.
