In our community, tracking and trailing are often thought of as the first science developed by our ancestors. Walking the landscape, reading its features and deciphering the tracks and signs of various animals were likely part of generalist skillset honed by all peoples. This is a great opportunity to hone that skill and to connect with our natural world in a direct, though non-confrontational way. We can't talk directly to the animals around us, but we can begin to understand them by reading what they leave behind in their track and sign.
